The Lebanese army restored calm to the city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon today after a stormy night of confrontations between protesters and security forces.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that yesterday's events, during the protesters ’attempt to storm the government palace in Tripoli, caused the death of one person and the wounding of 226 civilians and soldiers.

The security forces worked at dawn today to open the roads of Al-Nour Square and the streets branching from them and the vicinity of Saraya Tripoli, while the Beddawi highway is still cut off in both directions by trucks and tires.

Yesterday, the Lebanese army brought in military reinforcements and carried out a wide deployment in Abdel Hamid Karami Square (Al-Nour) and the surrounding streets after yesterday's clashes.
