The unprecedented explosion in the number of job seekers in 2020 combined with the hiring freeze for companies since the start of the crisis could push several million people into long-term unemployment - which is characterized by registration in the category Pôle emploi for more than a year… A real time bomb, as we know that prolonged inactivity feeds unemployment and deskilling, while this scourge is already very well established in France…

According to the latest data available, there are today nearly 3 million long-term unemployed in the employment office's files, i.e. almost one in two registered in categories A, B and C ( no activity and reduced activity), a level never reached, and an explosion of nearly 20 points in just a decade ... Worse, a little more than a million of them point to Pôle emploi in the metropolis, that is to say more than 'one in three long-term registrants ...
