The Malagasy president announced Wednesday evening August 11 the suspension of all government ministers, pending a forthcoming reshuffle.

President Andry Rajoelina, with his Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, 60, to whom he implicitly renews his confidence, jointly announced in a press release that “
the functions of all ministers who are members of the government end
” on Wednesday.
A suspension in a tense context
They are no longer responsible for shipping current affairs until the appointment of their successors, adds the press release without specifying when this announcement could take place.

This suspension comes in a context of worrying inflation but also of an alleged affair of a foiled coup, in which around twenty people, including two Frenchmen and several senior officials of the Malagasy army, were arrested.
In all, 21 people were presented to an investigating judge last week in Antananarivo, eleven of whom were imprisoned in the wake, including the two French.
On July 20, six people, including the French, were initially arrested for their alleged involvement in an "
investigation for endangering state security
" for having "put together
a plan for the elimination and neutralization of various Malagasy personalities including the head of state
”, announced the general prosecutor.
The Madagascan head of state, elected in 2018, strongly condemned on Sunday this alleged coup plan, stressing that "
the difference of views does not justify a murder
", in an intervention on public television channels .
