Despite a ban, according to police estimates, up to 2,000 people marched through Mannheim on Monday evening in protest against the Corona policy.
As police spokesman Patrick Knapp reported, numerous people had gathered at the water tower in the evening without registration for such a rally.
When the city banned the event for a short time and the police issued a ban, the square was "flooded" by people in one fell swoop.
Mannheim - Overall, it can be assumed that a total of up to 2000 people from the lateral thinker camp were in several groups without masks and without any distance in the city, said Knapp.
Around 800 of them managed to get into the center.
It was only when the police gathered very strong forces that the situation gradually calmed down.
Three police officers were slightly injured when a group tried to break a police chain.

In the late evening, the police were reportedly still busy taking the personal details of 100 to 200 people.
It is believed that it was some kind of concentrated action, said the spokesman.
The participants apparently networked via social media.
