New Delhi-SANA
India's Defense Research and Development Organization today announced that it has successfully tested its new supersonic missile-assisted torpedo launch system.
Sputnik quoted the organization as saying in a statement that it has developed a missile-assisted supersonic torpedo system that was successfully launched from Wheeler Island in Odisha today, indicating that the next generation of the system is designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare capability beyond the conventional range of a torpedo.
The statement added that the design of the new system includes advanced technologies such as solid two-stage propulsion, electromechanical actuators and micro-inertial navigation.
A torpedo is a missile used to fight ships and can be launched from a submarine or from an aircraft.
