The Council of Ministers approved the recommendation of the Economic Committee to ratify the contract between the Public Corporation for Road Transport and the General Company for Roads and Bridges “Southern Region Branch” to carry out maintenance work on the Damascus highway.. The Jordanian border “the western lane” from Damascus towards Daraa “from the administrative borders of Daraa Governorate” in the north to the Nassib border crossing in the south” and in separate locations.
The road constitutes a main link between Syria and Jordan, as it connects the city of Daraa and its affiliated towns with the city of Damascus, and heavy traffic flows through it for all types of tourist cars and trucks.
