The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu discussed with his US counterpart Lloyd Austin today over the phone security issues of mutual interest.
The Russia Today website quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the phone call between Shoigu and Austin dealt with many security issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Minister had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, at the initiative of the American side, in which he stressed that the propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies on the allegations of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has provocative aims.
These contacts precede the call that is scheduled to take place this evening between the presidents of the United States and Russia, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin.
