On Friday morning, a bus in Erlangen caught fire during rush hour.
When the fire brigade arrived, the bus was already engulfed in flames and completely burned out.

At the end of a long operation, all that was left was a burned-out skeleton on the side of the road.

Bus in Erlangen is on fire: passengers can still get to safety
The accident took its course at the stop on Dechsendorfer Straße in Erlangen.
Passengers and the bus driver noticed the smell of smoke inside the bus around 7:30 a.m.
A short time later, the first flames licked up the passenger compartment, according to the press release from the police headquarters in Central Franconia.
The bus driver then stopped at the bus stop and let the 20 or so passengers get off.

says that the bus was occupied by school children who were to be taken to schools in Erlangen.
However, the police report says nothing about this.
The bus burned out completely.

The Erlangen fire brigade was immediately alerted, which responded with numerous emergency services.
When they arrived at the scene, the bus was already fully engulfed in flames, the statement said.
The rescuers managed to extinguish the fire quickly.
In the end, however, all that was left of the bus was the skeleton.
However, nobody was injured in the fire.
Fire in Erlangen: Residents have to leave their homes
The heavy smoke and flames also affected the adjacent buildings.
The windows were particularly badly affected by the heat.
Residents were asked by the fire department to leave their homes while the fire was being put out.
Because the rescue was more difficult, Dechsendorfer Straße had to be closed on one side until midday.
Previous investigations by the police did not raise the suspicion that it was a matter of intentional arson.
The Erlangen-Stadt police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
