A 20-year-old man died after drowning in a pool of water in the Zarzuriyah area in the western Homs countryside.
The Director of Civil Defense in Homs, Brigadier General Ghiath Aqel, told SANA reporter that the branch operations room received a distress call about a young man drowning in a water pool while swimming.
Aqel called on the people to be vigilant against swimming in irrigation canals and water bodies, especially since last year witnessed a number of deaths by drowning in irrigation canals and ponds.
An elderly man died earlier today as a result of a fall in an irrigation canal in the Basateen Baba Amr area in Homs city.
