Tragic end of a diving training: Yesterday, Sunday, a 56-year-old died during a diving exercise in Immenstadt.
Immenstadt - A 56-year-old man died yesterday morning during a diving exercise in the Immenstadt indoor swimming pool. Third-party fault is excluded.
According to the local police, the man was practicing with several other members of a local diving club. On the last dive, the man swallowed water as he surfaced and had to be resuscitated. Despite immediate medical measures, the man subsequently died in hospital.
The criminal investigations did not reveal any indications of third-party negligence or misconduct on the part of others present. According to the current state of investigation, the police therefore assume a medical cause for the man's death.
At the time of the accident, there were no other bathers in the indoor pool. The members of the diving club present were supervised by members of the crisis intervention team.
The investigations into the course of the accident on site were conducted by the Immenstadt police and the Criminal Investigation Service. Further investigations are also being conducted by the Memmingen Criminal Investigation Service.
