Truck with food catches fire: Large-scale operation on the A96

Disruptions on the A96: After a truck caught fire, a large contingent of rescuers moved out. Traffic has been diverted.

Inning – Late on Sunday evening (3 December), the refrigeration unit of a semitrailer truck caught fire on the A96 in the direction of Munich near Inning. The fire eventually engulfed the tractor, which burned down completely. In addition, parts of the trailer and the cargo were damaged.

After the accident, which occurred around 23:20 p.m., the fire brigade began extensive extinguishing work. "For this purpose, the loaded food also had to be unloaded in order to be able to extinguish the fire in a targeted manner," says a press release from the traffic police inspectorate (VPI) Fürstenfeldbruck.

Truck fire on the A96: driver can get to safety

The property damage amounts to at least 50,000 euros. Fortunately, the truck driver was able to get to safety in time. In the direction of Munich, the A96 was initially completely closed, and this was still the case in the morning hours of Monday. An end to the closure is not foreseeable for the time being, the emergency services said.

"From the Inning junction, traffic will be diverted from the motorway. For a short time, the oncoming lane also had to be closed due to the smoke," VPI informed. The fire brigades of Steinebach, Inning, Eching, Etterschlag, Grafrath and Starnberg were in action.
