Highlights: "We have refrained from doing so so far": Bavarian Farmers' Association considers more drastic protest. The partial withdrawal of the austerity plans by the traffic light coalition is not enough for the farmers' association. The planned gradual abolition of the tax concession on agricultural diesel is meeting with resistance. For a full-time farm, the agricultural diesel remuneration means one to two months' income - 4500 euros per year on my farm. The farmers have so far received part of the mineral oil tax back, as they are mainly on the road in the fields.

If the federal government does not give in, the farmers want to continue their protests. The Bavarian Farmers' Association is threatening to take tougher action.

Munich - The Bavarian Farmers' Association is considering sharper protests against the federal government's tax plans. "So far, we have refrained from blocking infrastructure, such as the food supply. But we don't just let several months' income be pulled out of our pockets," said association president Günther Felßner of the Augsburger Allgemeine (Friday). "We will not stop our activities until both measures are withdrawn - the road tax and the cancellation of the agricultural diesel subsidy."

Farmers protest against traffic light austerity plans: Abolition of tax relief on agricultural diesel

Farmers are protesting against the federal government's planned subsidy cuts. In particular, the planned gradual abolition of the tax concession on agricultural diesel is meeting with resistance. The partial withdrawal of the austerity plans by the traffic light coalition is not enough for the farmers' association.

Felßner explained that the farmers have so far received part of the mineral oil tax back, as they are mainly on the road in the fields and not on the road. Agricultural diesel is of great importance to farmers in Bavaria: "For a full-time farm, the agricultural diesel remuneration means one to two months' income - 4500 euros per year on my farm."

On average, a Bavarian farm was able to generate between 80,000 and 90,000 euros last year. However, two to three people often work on a farm, and this income still has to be used to pay investments, taxes and social security contributions. (kam/dpa)
