Highlights: Emmanuel Macron calls for unity ahead of European elections in June. The French president is to hold a press conference at 20:15 p.m. to discuss his new government. He says he wants the country to be united ahead of the elections, which will be held on June 18. The election will be the first to be held in France since 1998, when the current government was formed. The result will be known in a few weeks, after the first round of voting in the European elections.

The head of state received the parliamentarians of his camp on Monday evening, after the appointment of the new government and on the eve of a presidential press conference.

"Let's keep our unity, our mobilization. It's the only useful path for the country," Macron told MPs from his camp at the Élysée Palace on Monday evening, according to a participant. "Let's keep our spirit of surpassing ourselves," he added, while the appointment of the new government, marked on the right, has troubled some of his troops.

The President of the Republic also called on his camp to mobilise in view of the European elections in June: "We will all have to mobilise in the battle, because this central bloc is the only one that is committed to Europe united."

Emmanuel Macron spoke briefly during what his entourage presented a few hours earlier as "a moment of exchange with the parliamentarians of the majority", with a desire for "individual and small group discussions rather than a big speech". Emmanuel Macron will hold a press conference on Tuesday at 20:15 p.m. to discuss the rest of his five-year term.
