For ten hours, guards from all over Upper Bavaria showed their skills in the Geretsried council chamber. The Narreninsel and the Bund Deutscher Karneval presented 25 carnival dance groups.
Geretsried – Impressive choreographies, artistic jumps and colourful costumes could be seen in the council chamber on Saturday. For ten hours, 25 guards from all over Upper Bavaria showed their skills and impressed the mayor of Geretsried, Michael Müller. "I am pleased that this meeting is taking place in Geretsried: the city is happy to support it," emphasized the head of the town hall on Saturday afternoon.

At that time, the council chamber was still poorly attended. However, the guard of the Schleißheim Council of Fools already caused enthusiasm at their opening performance. Accompanied by the Faithless hit "Insomnia", the young ladies and men marched in black and red costumes, waving black pirate skull flags.

Afterwards, BDK Honorary President Robert Weiß invited the local heroes of the carnival society Narreninsel to the stage. The youth guard "Dancing Fires" picked up on the pirate theme, but dispensed with the daring jumps of their predecessors. The fact that the sound system went on strike for a short time in between did not slow down the enthusiasm of the young women from Wolfratshausen and Geretsried.

With the princely couple Krissy I and Flo I, the Narrhalla Oberschleissheim arrived. The evening before, the couple did the honours at a carnival ball until late at night. "It's still a lot of fun for us to be able to show you our show," Flo I assured. Together with Tanzmariechen, who revived the tradition of the Cologne Funkenmariechen, which has existed since 1869, the Oberschleissheim team put on a lively performance.

"Experience has shown that the first guards have the hardest time heating up the atmosphere," explained moderator Robert Weiß. Fools' Island President Franz Hübler, who had organized the meeting with the president of the BDK in the Upper Bavaria regional association, Peter Steinberger, counted a total of around 500 dancers: "On such days, all members of the clubs are challenged to ensure a smooth process." For example, it is necessary to prepare cloakrooms and provide drinks.

Carnival societies from Dorfen, Kirchheim, Karlsfeld, Bad Aibling, Unterföhring, Mering, Hausham, Unterhaching, Fürstenfeldbruck, Benediktbeuern, Moorenweis, Schmiechen, Starnberg, Olching, Pöcking, Eching, Neufahrn, Steinkirchen, Munich and Wolfratshausen took part. ph
