After Christmas, it's Christmas again! One hundred euros gross per month, or one thousand euros net per year, this is what the employees of the city of Lyon will receive from April. The increase concerns all 8,000 permanent officers, all categories combined: from the gardener to the policeman, including the municipal archaeologist and the musicians in the auditorium.
"This is a very significant expense to be compared to a budget of more than €700 million," says Laurent Bosetti, deputy delegate for the promotion of public services. The elected France Insoumise specifies that in Lyon, category C employees – that is to say those whose salaries are the lowest – represent 65% of the workforce.
The medico-social sector more augmented
If the New Year's Eve has been important this year, it is because there is now a need to make public service jobs more attractive, observes the elected official: "In Lyon, about forty jobs in the community (out of the 250 listed) are in tension. We need to create a shock of attractiveness! But Lyon cannot act alone, warns Laurent Bosetti: "What I am demanding, like the unions, is an annual renegotiation of public sector salaries. »
To finance this increase of 100 euros gross per month, estimated at 10 million euros per year, the city had to dip into its savings: "There is this room for manoeuvre because there was an increase of almost 10% in the property tax last year," explains the elected official from Lyon. The only exception in this scheme is professions in the medico-social sector (specialised territorial agents of nursery schools, childcare assistants, nurses, carers, etc.) whose incomes are among the lowest in the civil service. They will receive more than the others, i.e. 125 euros gross per month.
