"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" was scheduled to run until 23:20 p.m. on RTL. However, due to the NFL, the show is not only interrupted, but even canceled.

Hürth – The new year started with a three-million-euro special on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". Now presenter Günther Jauch (67) welcomes his candidates back to the studio "normally" and gives them the opportunity to finish the question marathon one million richer. However, TV viewers will not be able to watch at least one candidate in full length on RTL today. Due to a program change, the quiz show is simply canceled.

Actually scheduled until 23:20 p.m.: This is the new broadcast date of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Recently, the RTL format has already had to deal with some glitches. Not only was an incorrect answer logged in, but the recording of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" had to be interrupted due to a technical glitch. On January 15, 2024, everything was supposed to be back on track. From 20:15 p.m. to 23:20 p.m., the show was announced for the evening RTL program. A small interruption was planned – as always in the past – "RTL Direkt".

But "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" won't be back on the air on Monday night. At 22:20 p.m., it's over with Günther Jauch and his quiz candidates. In the middle of the broadcast, the Cologne-based broadcaster switches gears and begins pre-match coverage of the NFL. "The game between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers has been postponed from Sunday to Monday evening, 22:30 p.m. German time, due to a snowstorm in the region. RTL is changing the program due to the postponement and will broadcast the playoff game live on free TV today from 22:20 p.m.," the broadcaster announced in a press release.

Interruption in the middle of the show: "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is shown in full length

While "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" will be shown in a shortened version, "RTL Direkt", "Spiegel TV" and "RTL Nachtjournal" will have to make even more room for sports - the three formats will be completely eliminated on January 15, 2024. But at least there is consolation for the fans of the quiz show. "From 22:20 p.m., the episode can continue to be watched free of charge on RTL+ until the end," the broadcaster said. Viewers do not have to take out a paid subscription, but can use the free option of the streaming service.
