A touch of Stuttgart in China: Ora Funky Cat becomes Porsche

2024-01-16T16:32:18.446Z

Highlights: A touch of Stuttgart in China: Ora Funky Cat becomes Porsche. Lumga Design transforms electric car into Porsche 911 GT3 RS with body kit – at least somehow. The electric car manages the sprint from zero to 100 in 8.2 seconds. Even with the body kit, a 171 hp electric motor on the front wheels provides propulsion. The car is sold in Thailand as Good Cat and gets the name suffix GT3RS. It is still the harmless electric car next door, because Lumga has not taken care of the chassis or the performance.

The resemblance is hard to miss: Ora Funky Cat becomes the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The rear of the converted electric car is particularly impressive.

With many a car from China, you have the feeling that you have seen it before. For example, the Ora Punk Cat electric car is strongly reminiscent of the VW Beetle. And the Funky Cat also has similarities to Porsche's front design. The tuner Lumga Design Bodykits from Thailand has also recognized this and transformed the brother of the electric Mini into a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Lumga Design transforms Ora Funky Cat into Porsche 911 GT3 RS with body kit – at least somehow

And just like the prototype, the converted Funky Cat, which is sold in Thailand as Good Cat, also gets the name suffix GT3 RS. Like its "namesake" from Stuttgart, the Chinese electric car has air outlet gills on the front fenders – of course only as imitations. While Porsche pulls the element around the fuel filler cap, Lumga Design Bodykits uses a recess on the tailgate. But there is also a version without the fake air intakes.

The rest of the 911 body kit for the Ora Funky Cat is much more successful. Of course, for the right look, the front apron should not be without additional air intakes – which make no technical sense. And the additional air intake of the last GT3 RS version below the bonnet has also been considered. The round headlights with their chrome surrounds need less love, as they are already reminiscent of Porsche.

Lumga Designs Missed Ora Funky Cat Spoiler and Diffuser

On the side, the Funky Cat only gets new sill strips. At the rear, Lumga Design has gone a little further to transform the electric car into a 911 GT3 RS. And what should not be missing? That's right: a nice spoiler. Even if this is mounted on the roof of the Funky Cat. But because that's obviously not enough, there is a second spoiler below the rear window, in which a continuous light strip is integrated. This is also available at the Porsche. The sporty look is provided by the extended rear apron with its powerful diffuser.

Even though the Ora Funky Cat looks much sportier on the outside, on the inside it is still the harmless electric car next door. Because Lumga has not taken care of the chassis or the performance. This means that even with the body kit, a 171 hp electric motor on the front wheels provides propulsion. The electric car manages the sprint from zero to 100 in 8.2 seconds. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is five seconds faster here.
