Children commemorate Gerlinde Sinn, who died in November, with a benefit concert by the "Stray Colors" at the Bosco. The proceeds of the concert will go to the women's network.
Gauting – It was a deeply moving memorial concert with which the siblings Annette Bauer, Philipp and Rüdiger Sinn honoured their beloved mother Gerlinde Sinn on Sunday evening. The economist died on November 11 at the age of 74. She was the wife of the prominent economics professor and former Ifo president Hans-Werner Sinn. The family has lived in Gauting for many years.
"Be happy, do good and let the sparrows whistle" was the song motto of her singing mother, Annette Bauer recalled the family time together after her brother Philipp had welcomed the guests. And she was "the biggest fan" of the "Stray Colors", the band of her youngest son Rüdiger and Zlatko Pasalic. For this reason, the band, reinforced by string players Dara Zusko (violin), Shinnie Lee (viola) and Eva Sophie Albrecht (cello), took the approximately 300 listeners in the hall on a musical journey into the life of Gerlinde Sinn.
Since the economist and co-author of "Cold Start: Economic Aspects of German Reunification" was responsible for awarding the business scholarships at the Zonta Club Munich I, the proceeds from the benefit concert went to the women's network, as club president Gabriele Ehlers explained.
Moving words and lots of music
With the original composition "What a wonderful Day" high above the clouds with the two brilliantly harmonizing singers Rüdiger Sinn and Zlatko Pasalic as well as Nathan Carruthers on drums and trumpeter Nico Weber, "Stray Colors" immediately captivated the audience. Shortly before her death, he played "The Things We Love" from the band's last album to his mother, Rüdiger Sinn said. And she wished: "You and Zlatko must always stay together as singers."
"Stray Colors" also inspired with the catchy song "Because", as well as with a rhythmic Balkan song, because: "My mom also swept through life like a whirlwind." And the flower power anthem "San Francisco", perfectly covered by the "Stray Colors" on Sunday, ran "up and down" in his parents' living room, guitarist and singer Rüdiger Sinn told from his childhood – especially since his father had been called to Stanton and Princeton universities in California in 1989. His older siblings and their parents have also been to Canada twice – he, as the youngest, "unfortunately only once".
Even when things didn't go so well with "Stray Colors", his mom "always stood by us," said Rüdiger Sinn. This was followed by the original composition "Ode to the Future" and the Hannes Wader song "Heute hier, morgen dort", which was reminiscent of Gerlinde Sinn's wanderlust. Sustained applause: After the wonderful, touching love song "Subway Train" by "Stray Colors", nothing was left to be desired at the benefit concert.
