An indictment was filed on Monday against a 51-year-old lawyer from Jaffa who brutally assaulted the maintenance worker of his residential building, after he suspected he was involved in the theft of his motorcycle.
According to the indictment, about a week ago, the defendant returned to his apartment building after walking his dog. When he saw the maintenance worker, he called out to him: "You piece of Arab, didn't you go?" When the victim, 64, commented to the defendant that he was swearing at him, he slapped the maintenance worker and began punching him. After he fell, he even kicked him in the face.

At the end of the investigation into the case, the police arrested the defendant and he was brought to the police station for questioning on suspicion of assault and actual injury. The suspect's detention was extended until the indictment against him was filed by the Tel Aviv State Prosecutor's Office. The police confiscated the defendant's gun and the station commander revoked his license to carry weapons.
During interrogation, the defendant denied what was attributed to him and claimed that what he had done was self-defense. He added that if the incident had been repeated, he would have acted in the same way again.

The defendant's lawyer said in court: "He is 51 years old, a veteran lawyer and economist whose entire criminal process is alien to his productive lifestyle. I didn't get the evidence, so I'm saying it's not like a man gets up in the evening and goes for a walk with his dog and decides to attack the building's security guard who guards and opens the gate to the compound. We have no problem with distancing the complainant and prohibiting direct or indirect contact. House arrest in circumstances of self-defense in a confrontation from the complainant indicates that he confirmed that there was a previous incident."
