From Tuesday to Wednesday, the German Weather Service warns of freezing rain and extreme slippery conditions. Deutsche Bahn expects cancellations and delays in S-Bahn traffic.
Munich – In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, 17 January, it will be dangerously slippery on Bavaria's roads. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects freezing rain throughout Bavaria during the night, which may quickly spread to the northern and eastern low mountain ranges during the day on Wednesday. As a result, the roads in many places become as smooth as glass. In western Lower Franconia, there is even said to be extreme ice accumulation on objects, trees and overhead lines, as well as an increased risk of ice breakage.

On the homepage of the Munich S-Bahn, the company warns of freezing rain and the risk of icy roads: "Due to freezing rain and slippery conditions, there may be weather-related restrictions in S-Bahn traffic on Wednesday morning." All S-Bahn lines may be affected. Passengers are asked to keep their distance from the edge of the platform and to be careful when boarding and disembarking.
Due to the extreme weather conditions, there are more and more school cancellations in Bavaria.
