The Green politician Stephan Christ has described the police measures in the eviction of the protest camps on the Südschnellweg as "on the whole moderate". There were no dangerous operations, but it was not always clear who was allowed to move where, said the member of the Lower Saxony state parliament, who was appointed as a parliamentary observer, on Tuesday.
Hanover - "It is understandable that you cannot be allowed into certain danger areas," he stressed. At the same time, freedom of the press is a valuable asset, and the possibility of parliamentary observation is also important.
Previously, the German Union of Journalists (dju) in the service trade union Verdi had criticised the fact that access had been restricted. She called for unhindered access for members of the press.
Christ explained that the road construction project Südschnellweg had been planned for years - it was indeed the case that the bridges lost their load-bearing capacity over the years. "The question is how to implement something like this," he stressed. The Greens have a critical stance on this, expansion projects are anything but productive to accompany a transport turnaround. At the same time, it is a supra-regional transport axis. For future construction projects, it is important to assume a "minimum of expansion" and more of the renovation of the existing buildings. Dpa
