Unkempt billboards are bad advertising for Peiting

Highlights: Unkempt billboards are bad advertising for Peiting. It's not just the surfaces themselves that are annoying, often not even an appealing advertising image can be seen on them. Especially over the past Christmas and New Year's holidays, the so-called "Out-Of-Home" (OOH) areas in Peiting were a tragedy. Some landlords also make it difficult for the posters to stick stickers on the parking spaces. The topic of advertising in the village has often been discussed in the Peitingen municipal council. So it remains to be seen whether at least the optics will be worked on.

Torn-off scraps of paper or simply completely unglued: The many billboards in Peiting are often extremely unkempt and thus disturb the townscape. But why is that?

Peiting – For several years now, there has been a conflict in the market town of Peiting between those who want to earn money with billboard advertising and those who would prefer to see the place unobstructed. But in the meantime, it's not just the surfaces themselves that are annoying, often not even an appealing advertising image can be seen on them. Neither South Seas flair from a travel agency nor funny advertising for a telephone provider.

By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter. And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

Especially over the past Christmas and New Year's holidays, the so-called "Out-Of-Home" (OOH) areas in Peiting were a tragedy. "This is also due to the holiday of the posters," says Ingrid Vogt from the provider Schwarz Outdoor Advertising. She adds: "We are located outdoors and are therefore highly exposed to the weather. Basically, we are very happy to receive information, as we are not on site."

Is there a wait-for poster change?

The affected areas would then be cleaned up as soon as possible. Vogt was not available for further questions on the phone. These should be submitted by email. But even after four days and repeated follow-ups, there is no answer.

This suggests that the next poster change, which takes place every ten days, is simply being sat out.

In addition to the company Schwarz Outdoor Advertising, there are other providers where things don't look any better. According to Peiting's mayor Peter Ostenrieder, the blame for the snippet madness on Peiting's streets does not only lie with the advertising providers. "On the one hand, the offices hire partner companies to take care of the posters," he explains. There is a "relatively high degree of unreliability".

Peiting's town hall boss is annoyed

On the other hand, it is often the fault of the landlords, who provide the land for the advertising space, but do not ensure that it is accessible for the stickers. In some cases, the parking spaces would be literally barricaded. "So people pocket the money for the rental, but don't allow posters to be changed," Peiting's town hall chief is annoyed.

Overall, the management of the food banks in the village is unsatisfactory. "I know the situation on the one hand as mayor, but also as the head of the agency," emphasizes Ostenrieder. "These areas are very successful, but of course they also need to be maintained." For example, the billboards at the Rewe and Netto supermarkets are "impeccable".

It has also been a topic in the municipal council

The topic of advertising in the village has often been discussed in the Peitingen municipal council. But they are powerless against the advertising itself. "If someone gives away their space for partition walls, that's purely a market situation. There's not much we can do as a community," admits Ostenrieder. So it remains to be seen whether at least the optics will be worked on.
