True Detective on Warner Pass via Amazon Prime Video

Spending an evening with Jodie Foster? This is possible thanks to the very successful return, full of chills, of the cult anthology True Detective, which totally changes its climate. Goodbye to the clammy America of Louisiana, welcome to the polar night of Alaska. Ennis is an Alaskan mining town with an Arctic research station. One day, its eight scientists vanish, leaving behind their still-warm sandwiches. The only clue is a human tongue lying on the ground. The organ prompts local police boss Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) to make the connection to the murder years earlier of an Inuit midwife who was also an environmental activist. Is it the same assassin who strikes? It's also a big hit for Danvers' former teammate-turned-police officer, Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis). The investigators put their enmity aside in the face of a case that twists the neck of rationality and embraces horror and the supernatural.

"Destination X" on M6 at 21:10 p.m.

Looking for suspense, fun and adventure in the middle of the most beautiful European landscapes? That's what M6's new game, "Destination X", offers. At the start, ten candidates set off from Le Castellet airport in an imposing anthracite bus with opaque windows. Their destination: the unknown. Every two days, after a few stops and various clues collected thanks to Philippe Bas, the game master, the participants have to try to guess their exact location somewhere in Europe. Whoever is furthest from the correct answer is eliminated. During the first three episodes, the contestants of this exciting and interactive game produced by ITV Studios France went from the south of France to Pisa in Italy and then to the Coliseum of Pula in Croatia before taking altitude on the beautiful reliefs of Slovenia towards the city of Bled.

The Impossible Burial of Stalin on Arte at 22:25 p.m.

Stalin, a dictator responsible for the deaths of millions of his fellow citizens? If this judgment is logically accepted in the West and almost everywhere in the world, what about Vladimir Putin's Russia? According to a 2019 poll, 70% of Russians consider the Red Tsar to have had an "overall positive" impact on their country. How can such an assessment be explained? Denis Van Waerbeke's rich documentary provides a better understanding of this popularity. This is done by tracing the history of the Soviet empire and then of Russia since the death of Stalin in March 1953.

Without Sin on MyCanal

Criminal mediation, also known as restorative justice, would have the effect, in 85% of cases, of helping victims to understand, to forgive, and sometimes even, in the case of a homicide, to finally complete their mourning. The story of Stella (Vicky McClure) attests to this. His daughter Maisy was murdered three years earlier by Charles Stone (Johnny Harris). The four episodes of Without Sinfollow each step of this very special program, from the first contact to the final denouement. It's a solid premise, which allows us to pull on other threads, in the vein of Happy Valley, No Offence or Broken, which solve murders with the same care as they depict the context in which they are committed, without justifying or excusing them.

"The Secret Life of Cats" on RMC Story at 21:10 p.m.

Do you dream of a relaxing evening, love animals and especially cats? This program is for you! In this show, RMC Story filmed one hundred cats from cities and fields for a month, equipping each of them... a GPS and an on-board camera! The idea is to discover the secrets or more simply the daily life of felines when their owners are away. Fights, beautiful escapes or scratches on the sofa: the images are revealed to them and then analysed by veterinarians. A show that will make you purr with pleasure.

Green Algae on Canal+ at 21:10 p.m.

The cinema of Pierre Jolivet (Force majeure, My Little Business) is not the type to pull out the violins. With his eighteenth film, Green Algae, the director remains faithful to the on-the-edge mise-en-scène that defines his style. He nevertheless injects romance and creates beautiful characters in this tense, nervous thriller, adapted from the graphic novel by Inès Léraud, drawn by Pierre Van Hove, Green Algae. The Forbidden History (2019).

This comic strip had brought to light the scandal of the pollution of the Breton coast by green algae despite a series of pressures of all kinds from agri-food lobbying, regional denial, intimidation and threats, not to mention the embarrassed silence of city councillors and the fortuitous disappearance of sensitive files. He also wanted to film a heroine, because the times needed one. Céline Sallette (Infiniti) aptly embodies this investigative journalist specialising in the environment. Filmed with a handheld camera, the result is all the more thrilling, with this kind of quivering urgency that fits well with the film.
