Three Neapolitan members of CasaPound ended up under house arrest and a fourth was notified of a residence ban, as part of an investigation into the attack suffered in Naples last October by a photographer who was wearing a pin with an anti-fascist logo on his jacket .

The man was immobilized, threatened with a knife, kicked and punched to take away his jacket.

The Digos investigations, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, Anti-Terrorism Group, made it possible to identify the suspects through the analysis of video surveillance cameras.

Following the attack, the man wearing the vest was diagnosed in hospital with a severe head injury.

The house arrests were notified by the Digos of Naples to Vittorio Acuto, 34 years old, Paolo Primerano, 39 years old, former security guard, employee of the ministry of cultural heritage, and to Taras Buha, 28 years old, believed to be linked to Ukrainian neo-fascist factions and collaborator of the Ukrainian consul in Naples.

Residence ban in the province of Naples for Vittorio Acuto's twin brother, Roberto Acuto, 34 years old, city secretary of CasaPound, both, again according to the investigators, linked to ultras groups of the Curva A of the Napoli fans.

According to what has been learned, only the four Italians took part in the demonstration in Acca Larentia while the Acuto brothers went to the celebrations of the far-right Greek movement Golden Dawn last November.

The twins, however, were blocked and sent back to Italy by the Hellenic police forces.

During the searches at Primerano's house, in the province of Caserta, Digos found, among other things, and seized a cartridge belt from a war machine gun containing 55 cartridge cases.

"You piece of shit... take off this jacket, what is this coat of arms": this is the phrase shouted by the attackers at the 44-year-old photographer.

The attack, which occurred on the evening of October 12, 2023 in the hilly district of Vomero, sparked a reaction from various political forces.

A few days later a sit-in in solidarity with the victim was held.

M5s parliamentarians Dario Carotenuto and Gilda Sportiello presented a question to the Minister of the Interior regarding the incident.

CasaPound headquarters searched

The Neapolitan headquarters of CasaPound was searched by the Digos of Naples as part of the investigation into an attack which occurred in the city last October which led this morning to the execution of precautionary custody orders under house arrest for three members of the association and a residence ban for a fourth member.

Computer traces were also searched to delve deeper into the motive for the attack and robbery: the victim, a photographer who was wearing a pin with an anti-fascist logo, had his jacket taken away after a violent attack with kicks and punches.

Again at the direction of the prosecutor's office, Digos searched the homes of the four suspects, including the city secretary of CasaPound, who had the premises of the movement's headquarters at his disposal.

A fifth CasaPound militant was also searched and investigated together with the four recipients of the precautionary measures.

Four attackers were in Acca Larentia

Four of the five members of Casapound investigated in Naples for having stolen a jacket with an anti-fascist pin from a 44-year-old photographer, apparently took part in the meeting last January 7 in Rome, in Acca Larentia, where many people performed with the Roman greeting.

The matter is at the center of an investigation by the Rome Prosecutor's Office which currently involves around ten people.

The five suspects in Naples are accused by Digos and the prosecutor Fabrizio Vanorio of the crimes of robbery and aggravated injuries, carrying objects capable of offending and receiving stolen goods.

Bonelli: 'Dissolve Casapound'

"We must act immediately, taking the example of the French Gaullist right, which did not hesitate to dissolve neo-fascist organisations. In Italy too we must proceed with the dissolution of all neo-fascist organisations, such as CasaPound. The attack suffered by a 44-year-old man in Naples for the sole reason of wearing an anti-fascist pin is an unacceptable episode and symptomatic of a serious problem."

Thus, in a note, the national co-spokesperson of Green Europe and deputy of the Green and Left Alliance, Angelo Bonelli.

"Fascism is not only a dark chapter in our history, but a current threat to our democracy. It is unacceptable that governing parties, such as the Brothers of Italy, do not take a clear and decisive position in this battle for democratic values. Not we can tolerate these dangerous ideologies that cannot be on the streets of our cities with those who chase migrants from the beaches and beat those who participate in anti-fascist demonstrations or carry anti-fascist symbols: Casapound must be disbanded," concludes Bonelli.
