In the Gmund mayoral election on February 25th there will be a duel between Alfons Besel (FWG) and Babette Waxenberger (CSU).
The SPD is not offering its own candidate - but has clearly positioned itself.
Gmund
– incumbent Alfons Besel (FWG) or CSU challenger Babette Waxenberger?
On Sunday, February 25th, it will be decided who will head the municipality of Gmund as mayor in the future.
The SPD local association, which has decided not to put forward its own candidate, officially supports Besel's application in the upcoming mayoral election.
The SPD has now confirmed this in a press release.
SPD sees “the greatest similarities” with incumbent Besel
Group spokeswoman Barbara von Miller had already made it clear to the local council that the SPD would be happy about Besel's re-election.
In a press release, she and local chairman Johann Schmid emphasize once again: With the previous administration of town hall boss Besel, the SPD sees “the greatest similarities” in its goals and plans.
Schmid and Miller particularly emphasize the “broad-based citizen participation in all important future decisions”, the “targeted decision-making in the municipal decision-making bodies and their reliable implementation” as well as “exemplary initiatives” in the areas of child care, bicycle friendliness, building culture, energy transition and economy for the common good.
“We would like to continue to support this path with the current mayor in a critical and constructive manner and supplement it with our own suggestions,” says the press release from the parliamentary group spokeswoman and local chairman.
