TV viewers were once again spoiled for choice: “File number XY... Unsolved” or the start of “The Bachelors”.

Who is ahead in the ratings duel?

Munich - While Rudi Cerne (64) dealt with two cold cases on January 17, 2024 and hoped for decisive clues, this time two bachelors on RTL are looking for true love.

The television program couldn't have been more contrasting, but fans had a clear favorite.

Clear winner in the ratings duel between “Aktenzeichen XY” and “The Bachelors”

Since 1967, ZDF viewers have been able to help solve unsolved crime cases on “Aktenzeichen XY” – and they are still doing so diligently after more than 50 years.

Because on January 17, 2024, fans tuned in again in large numbers and helped ZDF win the ratings.

An incredible 5.78 million viewers tuned in to “Aktenzeichen XY” on Wednesday, as

DWDL

reports.

For Rudi Cerne, this results in a market share of 22 percent among the total audience aged three and over.

The season opener of “The Bachelors” had significantly fewer viewers.

Since the ratings have gotten worse and worse in recent years, RTL has come up with something very special for the 14th season: This time it's not just one bachelor who's looking for a bride, but two.

Even if the numbers were actually better than previous years, it wasn't enough for the top 25 (total audience aged 3 and over) this time either.

What number of viewers set the record in Germany?

On July 13, 2014, ARD made television history: According to estimates, a whopping 34.65 million people watched the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 n.V.) on their own television sets.

Incorrect: People who followed the game during public viewing or in bars were not taken into account in this count.

The actual number is likely to be considerably higher.

“The Bachelors” scores points with young audiences – the day’s victory still goes to ZDF

However, “The Bachelors” was able to score points in the target group of 14 to 49 year olds.

0.70 million people watched here (market share 12.5 percent).

ZDF also won the ratings duel here.

With 1.02 million viewers (market share 17.7 percent), the day's victory among young audiences also clearly goes to “File number XY... Unsolved”.

Speaking of “The Bachelors”: For the 14th season of “The Bachelor”, RTL is completely overturning the previous concept.

In 2024, two men will be looking for true love: these are the two bachelors.
