It's sad for Crown Princess Mary.

On their big day, one person cannot come to the proclamation: their father, John Dalgleish Donaldson, has canceled.

Copenhagen – Queen Margrethe II (83) of Denmark steps down and hands over the scepter to her heir to the throne, Crown Prince Frederik (55).

Crown Princess Mary will be crowned queen at his side after Frederik's surprising abdication and premature appointment to the throne.

How proud her mother would be.

But it looks like even her father won't be coming to Denmark for Mary's big day.

Crown Princess Mary's father is apparently unable to come to Denmark, the palace said

As the palace confirms, according to

seoghoer.dk

, Mary's family is traveling with her big sister Jane Alison Stephens (58), because father John Dalgleish Donaldson (82) unfortunately cannot come.

The court also announced the reason for the 82-year-old's absence.

Because of his age, he was “unable to make the long journey to Denmark for the proclamation,” it is said.

Mary's mother Henrietta Clark Donaldson (55, † 1997) died at the age of 55 when Mary was just 25 years old.

Horrible and traumatic for Mary: Henrietta died as a result of a heart operation.

Crown Princess Mary's four children will have to console her for the absence of their father

What will keep the Australian native going is her own family.

Her four children, Prince Christian (18), Princess Isabella (16) and the twins Prince Vincent (13) and Princess Josephine (13), will of course be present at the ceremony and may be able to console her for the absence of her father.

Apparently the conditions are difficult.

It is not known whether Crown Princess Mary's siblings have been invited or whether they will come.

Baby Mary has another older sister, Patricia Anne Bailey (55), and an older brother, John Stuart Donaldson (53), about whose relationship little is known.

It is all the better that the Danish court has confirmed that Jane Alison Stephens will travel to Copenhagen again; she was most recently a guest of sister Mary, whose godmother she is, on the 18th birthday of heir to the throne, Prince Christian.
