For the former Ilva of Taranto "interlocutions" with other private individuals "have already begun":

the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso,

said this in Potenza .

"The State - he added - is committed to saving the Italian steel industry and therefore to saving the Taranto steel hub"

Meanwhile, today in Taranto the Aigi association, to which 80% of the companies that work with the former Ilva of Taranto belong, raised the level of the protest, calling for guarantees on the payment of credits accrued by the companies, 120 million euros, fearing that they may vanish with the use of extraordinary administration.

From the C concierge of the plant, where a protest had been underway since 5.30am, a procession "with workers and vehicles" set off, heading towards the city and which, according to what was learned, led to temporary road blocks and slowdowns in the traffic on the Ionian state road 106 and the Appia state road.

Already yesterday the association had started the mobilization with the indefinite suspension of activities, guaranteeing only services relating to the safety of the facilities, and sit-ins in front of the reception desks.

Aigi requests the payment of all invoices issued by 31 December 2023 and the presentation of a "credible industrial plan" that guarantees production continuity.

The new protest was triggered despite the fact that the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso has called today at 1pm, via videoconference, the associations representing the supplier companies and related industries of Acciaierie d'Italia, for an update on the situation of the ex Ilva and in relation to the measures recently taken by the government.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, will also participate in the meeting.

The government's intention, according to what emerged from yesterday's summit with the unions, is to proceed with a temporary commissionership to close the experience with the multinational, seeking the best private partners to defend production continuity, employment and worker safety.

Decree on the former Ilva in the Gazzetta, the examination starts from the Senate

According to what we understand, the Senate will start the examination of the decree law with urgent provisions regarding the extraordinary administration of strategic companies, launched on Tuesday by the Council of Ministers.

The provision - published yesterday evening in the Official Journal - strengthens, in the event of recourse to extraordinary administration, the measures already present in the law to protect the production and employment continuity of companies in crisis, including the former Ilva, and provides guarantees of extraordinary redundancy fund during any extraordinary administration.

The decree paves the way for the use of the rule in the context of the comparison with ArcelorMittal on the former Ilva (Steelworks of Italy).

The EU: "Italy will have to evaluate the notification of the loan for the former Ilva"

“It is up to a Member State to assess whether a specific measure involves State aid and whether it constitutes State aid under EU law must therefore be notified to the Commission for the prior assessment of any granting of aid.”

This was said by a spokeswoman for the European Commission, when asked about the hypothesis that Italy would grant a bridge loan for the former Ilva if the extraordinary administration procedure is started.
