The inauguration of the Turin-Cerese, on the same day, and the meeting on line 2 of the metro represent "a serious, true, non-ideological but pragmatic model of sustainability and environmental protection. It will be an important future for the people of Turin and Piedmont".
This was stated in the press meeting on Metro 2 by the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini.
"This is sustainability, not waging war on cars, but working to provide an alternative", reiterates the minister, recalling that line 1 of the metro has reduced private traffic by 13% while for the second line a reduction of more than 10% is estimated.
"This - Salvini underlines - is a city that approaches climate issues with pragmatism and common sense, offering alternatives and not addressing the issue in a punitive way. In a city like Turin - he adds - being prejudiced against cars would be foolish".
As for the date of 2032, indicated as the start of metro 2, he recalls that in that year "the first train will cross the TAV tunnel, the first train will pass through the Brenner tunnel, the first carriage on metro C in Rome, and hopefully the first train will cross the Stritto, in the name of uniting the country on true efficiency and true environmentalism".
Also thanks to the infrastructures, he concludes, "Turin, Milan, Genoa will be one of the engines not only of Italy but of Europe".
