They rowed for five years, but there was light at the end of the tunnel, with the promise of two direct trains a day putting their towns of Metz and Nancy within acceptable distance of the south of France.
The elected representatives of Lorraine obtained under their tree, just before the end of year celebrations, the real commitments of the State with a view to reconnecting their two cities with Lyon by 2025. Enough to save travelers from connections sometimes dissuasive and encourage them to leave their cars in the garage to reach the Mediterranean coast.
The old Corail cars did the job for a long time, day and night, but the rise of high speed and the issues of profitability of the lines have reshuffled the cards, with a new situation unfavorable to the Grand Est, a region with rather modest demographic dynamics.
