The P-Seminar German at St. Matthias High School shines with the performance of Dürrenmatt's drama “The Physicists”.

Waldram – As a patient in a bathrobe, game director Andreas Gleixner welcomed (old) colleagues, classmates, friends and Waldramers into the fully occupied auditorium of the Waldramer Gymnasium St. Matthias.

Two years ago he had the idea of bringing Friedrich Dürrenmatt's “The Physicists” to the stage.

“An adventure, and today I look back on these two years with happiness and a little pride.” With the help of housekeeping and technology, he and his troupe from the P-Seminar German then showed a performance from the stage design to costumes to the perfect performance, which is more than impressive.

Gleixner first introduced the time when the piece was created in the early 1960s, which was marked by the Cold War, the aggressive arms race, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Dürrenmatt's drama - dedicated to the great actress Therese Giehse, for whom he played the female lead of Miss Dr.

created - raises the question of the personal responsibility of the scientist.

About the plot: The three physicists Möbius alias King Solomon (Ludovic von Pawelsz), Beutler, called Newton (Gina Pfarrer), and Ernesti, called Einstein (Anneli Mezger), have retreated to the private sanatorium “Les Cerisiers” to save the world from them to protect research results.

All three gradually kill their nurses because they fall in love with them or threaten to endanger their goal.

Detective inspector Richard Voß (Daniel Eisgedt) and police officer Blocher (very confident: Leonie Klingel) investigate and have to meet with psychotherapist Dr.

Mathilde von Zahnd (brilliantly cool: Luzie Frings).

One of the highlights is the appearance of missionary Lina Rose (Christina Singer), formerly Möbius, who, before leaving for the Mariana Islands, arrives with her “new” missionary Oskar Rose (wonderfully clumsy: Morten Lisy) and son Wilfried Kaspar (Glikeria Kouti). Moebius visited.

The son also wants to become a physicist – which Möbius forbids him to do: “You’re not allowed to do that.

I forbid you to do.

I should never have become a physicist.

Never.

I wouldn't be in a madhouse now.” And when “his” nurse Monika (believably honest: Julia Wohlfarter) confesses her love to him (“I want children with you!”), Möbius strangles her.

Proving madness through murder: The physicists go crazy in the auditorium of St. Matthias

In the second act, Sir Isaac Newton comes out and reveals the true intentions of his mission: “The aim was to finally prove my madness through murder.” But Newton is actually the agent Kilton and Einstein is actually the physicist Joseph Eisler, the discoverer the Eisler effect.

In the end, all madmen are deceived fraudsters, only the madhouse granted them freedom, they are wild animals that cannot be let loose on humanity.

And all three drink to their nurses - until Miss Dr.

comes out as a real monster: “King Solomon appeared to me too, I am the last normal person in my family.” Huge laughter!

“What has once been thought cannot be taken back.”
