The car parks around the Meaux hospital center (Seine-et-Marne), full as eggs during the day, are emptying out slowly.
A woman on the ground floor smiles at us.
She doesn't take care of security.
“I direct people,” she corrects.
It is in this maternity ward of this very large hospital that a one-month-old little girl was kidnapped by her mother this Thursday evening, between 7:35 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The Meaux court prosecutor's office launched a kidnapping alert, both were found safe and sound in the early evening in Sevran (Seine-Saint-Denis).
On the first floor of the maternity ward is the neonatology.
When we get out of the elevator, it's deserted.
The three chairs stuck to the wall are empty.

To enter one of the “neonatal” departments (resuscitation, intensive care), you have to show your credentials.
Either you are a caregiver and you have a badge to open the doors, or you are a parent and you have to ring the bell and announce yourself to be authorized to access the service.

It was on this first floor that the little girl was hospitalized until January 16, according to our information.
She had recently been transferred to the third floor, to “pediatrics”.
It is also on this floor that the pediatric emergencies are located.
If we can move around relatively easily, “it’s normal, it’s an emergency reception,” a caregiver tells us.

When contacted, the management of the Grand Hôpital de l’Est Ile-de-France (Ghef), of which the Meaux site is a part, refused to make any comments or explanations.
