Sixteen departments in the north and north-west of France (from Brittany to Hauts-de-France) are placed on yellow wind alert from this Sunday at twelve o'clock, due to depression Isha which will mainly affect the British Isles , indicates Météo France.

These are Aisne, Calvados, Côtes-d'Armor, Eure, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine, Loire-Atlantique, Manche, Mayenne, Morbihan, Nord, Oise, Orne, Pas-de-Calais, Seine-Maritime and Somme.

Île-de-France is therefore not concerned.

In detail, Isha “will give strong southwesterly gusts near the Channel coast, particularly in Pas-de-Calais” during the night from Sunday to Monday.

According to Météo France, wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are expected “in the lands of Pas-de-Calais, even the Somme and the North”.

Towards orange vigilance in Brittany?

In Brittany, strong gusts of wind will approach the coasts of the English Channel “particularly on Léon, Trégor and the tip of Cotentin”.

These wind gusts are expected to exceed 100 km/h and could “enter quite clearly into the northern half of the departments concerned (Finistère, Côtes-d'Armor and therefore the Manche)”.

“An increase in the level of vigilance towards orange may then prove necessary” in these departments, adds Météo France.

Depression Isha “will originate in the center of the Atlantic this Saturday evening, between Newfoundland and Ireland and will be energized by a powerful jet current which will propel it towards the south of the British Isles between Sunday evening and this Monday », details La Chaîne Météo.

The latter for its part predicts wind gusts that could reach “110 to 120 km/h along the Channel”.
