The prestigious Charlemagne Award, which is considered the most prestigious award given to individuals and leaders for work done by the European Union, will be awarded this year to the president of the 'Conference of Rabbis of Europe', the genius Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt - this was announced by the board of directors of the Aachen International Charlemagne Prize Awarding Society
. Since 1950, by the German city of Aachen, it has been named after Charlemagne, the ruler of the Roman Empire who was defined as the founder of the European continent. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, Charlemagne brought political and social changes that had a long-lasting effect on Europe in the Middle Ages. The
council members' statement said that : "We cherish Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt for his outstanding efforts to promote the European values of peace, tolerance, pluralism and dialogue.
Our election sends a clear message that Jewish life is an integral part of the European continent and that there is no place for anti-Semitism.
Any attack on a Jew is an attack on everything that Europe represents and is proud of." Rabbi Goldschmidt said that: "With me stand the rabbis and jurists of the conference who are tirelessly engaged in increasing the Torah and glorifying it and raising the Torah fund in Israel and the Israel Fund among the nations."

Rabbi Goldschmidt, who has served for the past 13 years as the President of the Rabbinical Conference of Europe, previously served for 12 years as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Rabbinical Conference of Europe. He was and is involved in the founding and development of community organizations, schools and kindergartens, aid organizations and yeshivas that were and are being established in the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, and for most of my life the approximately 700 Jewish communities in Europe while establishing a series of Torah, education and charity institutions.
It should be noted that the Carl Prize, which has been awarded for approximately 75 years, has been awarded over the years to individuals and institutions including: First Chancellor of Germany Konraddenauer, the European Commission. Spanish King Juan Carlos I, French President Francois Mitterrand and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, the last President of Czechoslovakia Vaclav Havel, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, United States President Bill Clinton, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and more.
