With the traditional “Dance on Marienplatz” the Schongau Carnival Society once again hit the mark.

Despite the frosty temperatures, the three gardeners are in great shape and in a rousing carnival mood in the bright sunshine.

Numerous spectators watched the spectacle in the old town for 90 minutes.

Schongau

- The court marshal initially owns the stage at Schongau's Marienplatz: Christian Schamper greets the audience with a flourish with the battle cry “Lech au” and immediately lets “the puppets dance”.

Entry of the Eleven Council and entry of the Prince's Guard, followed by the Prince and Princess.

Prince Tobias I of the beautiful Burgga and Princess Simone I of the Ingenried carpenter's residence.

After the Prince's Guard's first appearance, they show their Prince's Waltz.

Emotional floating over the carpet, the audience follows the rhythm.

By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

The temperatures are frosty, the mood is the opposite.

The fact that the Schongau carnival society does not need to worry about its future when it comes to the Prinzengarde can be seen when the Minigarde appears.

The girls confidently demonstrate their step sequences and, at the request of the audience, also give an encore.

“This is our Prince’s Guard of the future,” says Court Marshal Schamper.

To change and warm up in the ball house

A short break is taken.

For the spectators to fill their cups with mulled wine or hot tea, for the girls from the youth and prince guards to change in the warmer temperatures in the Ballenhaus.

It's showtime.

Nothing is shortened, all dances and throws should be shown to the spectators up close.

The Youth Guard opens the dance.

Fast step sequences, safe lifting figures and throws.

“How can they remember all that,” was one remark from the audience.

Of course, an encore is also required from the youth guard.

Take a quick breath, let's go.

Great job, girls.

City councilor Hans Rehbehn is full of praise: “Simply an atmospheric and sporty performance that is thrilling.

There’s really no need to worry about the offspring here in Schongau.”

If necessary, even without music

The Youth Guard leaves, the Prince's Guard stands ready.

“Will they dare to make daring throws today in these frosty temperatures?” is the big question when the music starts.

The girls not only dare, they pull off the jumps with absolute confidence.

And they go one better: When the music stops for a short time for technical reasons, they continue dancing as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

When the music starts again, everything runs like clockwork again.

Just professionals.

City councilor Kornelia Funke also sees it that way.

“Very athletic and super accurate, and of course a feast for the eyes.” After all, Funke has to know.

She also danced in a guard in earlier years.

Save February 11th

Just like Anna Leier, who is of course at this event.

She was a trainer at the SFG for nine years, and her heart simply beats for the guard girls and also for the “Dance on Marienplatz”: “A really crazy event in the most wonderful weather,” says Leier.

The local newspapers in the Weilheim-Schongau district are represented on Instagram under “merkur_wm_sog”.

And the president?

“I just let it happen to me,” said Alex Blasi.

He says, turns to his council of eleven and pats the men on the shoulder.

Big praise without many words.

“Lech ouch!”

Info:

If you didn't have the opportunity to admire the gardens in the open air, you can make a note of Carnival Sunday.

On February 11th, after the parade, they will show all the dances in front of the Ballenhaus.
