Police in the city of Joliet, Illinois, are searching for a suspect considered "armed and dangerous" after several people were found dead from gunshot wounds on Monday afternoon, authorities reported.
The suspect, Romeo Nance, drives a red Toyota Camry with license plate Q730412.
The individual is believed to be "armed and dangerous," police said.
In a Facebook post at 1:50 p.m. ET, the Joliet Police Department said it was investigating an "incident in progress" in the 2200 block of West Acres Road.
Police provided an update at 3:00 p.m. local time in which authorities confirmed that multiple people with gunshot wounds were
found dead inside two homes
.
"Information remains fluid and constantly changing as this investigation progresses," authorities said.
The Will County Sheriff's Office said it was attempting to locate the same vehicle linked to two other shootings that occurred Sunday.
According to authorities, around 4:27 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Pheasant Run Apartments in Joliet and found a man bleeding from the head with an
apparent gunshot wound
.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, has not yet been identified by the Will County Coroner's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, another shooting had occurred about 10 minutes earlier in the city of Joliet.
In that incident, a 42-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the leg.
Police said the victims appeared to be unrelated.
However, they clarified that the same vehicle
was present at both crime scenes
just before both shootings.

West Acres Road remained closed between Madison Street and Springfield Avenue on Monday and was not expected to reopen for a "significant period of time," police said.
Madison Street was also closed between Greenwood Avenue and Douglas Street.

Authorities said anyone who sees the suspect's vehicle
should not approach the car
, and instead immediately call 911 and report its location to law enforcement.
Police had not yet provided additional details about the incident as of late Monday afternoon.
