It is one of the highlights of the carnival season: the big guard festival of the Olching carnival guild (FGO), which takes place every year in the Puchheim PUC.

The guests were thrilled.

Puchheim – Twelve groups showed off their skills.

300 guests cheered them enthusiastically.

And there is a special recipe to combat stage fright.

Luca Maier from the Olching Carnival Guild is thrilled every year.

“It’s just a highlight for everyone.

Especially since the event takes place on a Sunday, all participants have a lot of time and they can chat and not have to move on to the next performance,” says the FGO press officer.

Those present included the Schleißheim Narrenrat, the Turnergarde Moorenweis, Narrhalla Munich, the Moosacher Carnival Club and the Fürstenfeldbruck Carnival Friends (FFF).

One hour for makeup

For Jenny Getzke from the Olching carnival guild, it is the second carnival season.

Since her former boss at the time thought that she wasn't working to her full potential, he suggested that she join the guards.

“Since a trial training session I’ve just been stuck.

“It’s incredibly fun,” explains the 28-year-old.

Her make-up for the appearance is particularly elaborate.

She does this herself. It takes her about an hour.

Her hairstyle is done, which takes another 30 minutes.

The Carnival Guild program lasts just under 20 minutes.

“What I always like about guard meetings is that there is no competition.

Each team cheers on the other groups and everyone celebrates together.

It’s really a lot of fun.”

The royal couple from Fun Unlimited from Germering are also present.

Sarah I. and Philipp II are happy to be in Puchheim.

She has been dancing for almost ten years, he since 2020. The two of them are not excited before the numerous performances.

“We know we are a good team and are all in the same boat, so no one has to be excited,” says the carnival prince.

“I also think that the joy of performing is greater than stage fright.

“You just have to concentrate well and approach the matter with joy and routine,” explains the princess.

Garde performs at the hospice

Melissa Pfeifenrath from Fun Unlimited feels the same way.

The people of Germering are particularly proud that they are able to host the BDK Children's Guard meeting on February 3rd this year.

Fun Unlimited will donate the proceeds from this event to the Germering Hospice.

“It’s just a good feeling to give something to these people,” explains Pfeifenratz.

The Guard also performs at the hospice.

“We want to put at least a little smile on people’s faces.

We really care about this cause.”

The Guard Festival in the Puchheim PUC began on Sunday at 3 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. with a grand finale in which all guard and show dance groups took part.

Almost 300 guests came.

Twelve Gardens showed their program this year on stage.

Carnival friends

And the carnival friends Fürstenfeldbruck are also taking part in the Guard Festival in Puchheim.

The dancers Celine Jahr and Sabine Backhaus are enthusiastic about the atmosphere and the individual shows.

The pair also really like this year's Brucker program.

“It's a very mixed show, which is a lot of fun.

We have the motto Best of Nature, harmony of the elements water and earth,” explains Celine.

The Guard presents the program at a wide variety of events, such as carnival balls or birthdays.
