Hans Sigl can look back on many successful TV moments.

But the “Bergdoktor” star regularly impresses not only as an actor.

He is also more in demand today than ever as a presenter.

After a few years in the theater, Sigl's first major TV role followed: that of investigator Andreas Blitz in the ZDF series “SOKO Kitzbühel”.

The first step into the television landscape was taken.

Further roles were not long in coming.

In 2008, Hans Sigl landed what was probably the most important role of his career to date: that of the mountain doctor in the ZDF series of the same name.

From stage artist to TV actor: Hans Sigl's path to television

Hans Sigl was born on July 7th, 1969 in Rottenmann in Styria (Austria).

At the age of 21, he completed three years of training as an actor and singer at the Tyrolean State Theater in Innsbruck.

After graduating, Sigl remained loyal to this theater as a stage artist for several years.

The graduate then moved to Freiburg and Bremen to the Bremer Shakespeare Company.

He also took on his first small roles on television.

Sigl's TV breakthrough came in 2001: the newcomer got the role of investigator Andreas Blitz in the crime series "SOKO Kitzbühel", which was produced and broadcast by ZDF and ORF.

It was Hans Sigl's first leading role in a series, which he ultimately played until 2006.

The actor then left to pursue professional development - and he succeeded in doing so.

Hans Sigl made his TV breakthrough in 2001 as a SOKO investigator.

In the years that followed, he took on major roles in various TV productions, such as “Zodiac – The Horoscope Murderer” (2007), “Guilt and Innocence” (2007) and “The Secret of the Königssee” (2008).

Hans Sigl sometimes hangs up his doctor's coat for other projects: In addition to his acting work, the Austrian also enjoys being a presenter.

Into the New Year with Sigl: The actor moderates the New Year's Eve show for ARD

On RTL, the “Bergdoktor” actor hosted the entertainment show “The Incredibly Smartest Man in the World” (2022) and in the same year he took over from Jörg Pilawa at the ARD event “The Great New Year’s Eve Show”.

The actor regularly tours Germany with his own stage programs.

Hans Sigl is not all that private

Hans Sigl doesn't reveal much about his private life.

The TV doctor has been married to singer Susanne Sigl (formerly Kemmler) since June 2008.

Both brought children into the marriage.

The patchwork family now lives together on Lake Ammersee in Bavaria.
