Monday evening, at 9:20 p.m., avenue du Président-Wilson, in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), in the Plaine district, the driver of a scooter, aged 48, was hit by a motorist who was traveling at high speed, leaving the scooter rider between life and death.
“He was transported in a state of brain death,” indicates a police source, despite rapid and intensive treatment.
The Saint-Denis municipal police arrived first on the scene.
She was able to note that the victim had “still a pulse”.
A long cardiac massage was provided for around twenty minutes by the police, without success.
“The firefighters who took over managed to restart the heart,” indicates a source close to the investigation.
But it was in a desperate state that the injured man was admitted to the intensive care unit of Beaujon hospital, in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine).
The author of the accident abandoned his Volkswagen Jetta vehicle on the spot and fled on foot when the police and emergency services arrived.
He was in the company of two passengers who also fled.
The vehicle was found empty of all occupants.
The victim also had numerous fractures.
The car was not reported stolen but personal effects were found inside, as well as, more worryingly, “empty nitrous oxide canisters”.
Diverted from its initial function - it is found in the siphons in Chantilly - this substance is inhaled and causes euphoric and exciting effects, but above all harmful for its users.
Regarding the circumstances of this serious traffic accident, we know that the scooter was rear-ended by the Volkswagen, which caused the driver to fall.
The car was traveling at high speed.
The Samu quickly took care of the injured man but he was declared brain dead during his transport to Beaujon hospital, in Clichy-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine).
This state is irreversible.
But the death was not officially confirmed this Tuesday morning.
The victim also had numerous fractures.
The investigation was entrusted to the Saint-Denis police station.
