An unknown person intentionally blocked a toilet at the high school and flooded an entire floor.

The police are securing evidence and keeping an eye on chat groups in order to catch the perpetrator.

Vaterstetten

– It can no longer be said to be a stupid prank, but rather a criminal act.

An intentionally caused flood at the Vaterstetten high school caused significant material damage.

The Poing police station announced this on Tuesday, January 23rd.

The incident was discovered on Monday, January 22nd.

The perpetrator is being investigated.

The caretaker of the Humboldt-Gymnasium in Vaterstetten noticed that the water was several centimeters high in the hallway on the third floor of the school building.

According to a police spokesman, an investigation revealed that the men's toilet on the third floor was intentionally blocked with a large amount of paper so that water could no longer flow out.

At the same time, the toilet flush was blocked so that it flushed continuously.

This resulted in the entire third floor being flooded with water.

Water penetrates the ceiling and reaches the floors below

The water entered the ceiling at one point and reached the second floor and sometimes even the first floor, where pools of water were also found.

There was damage to the building, which the police initially estimate is likely to be in the five-figure range.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated for property damage

The Poinger office has initiated criminal proceedings for damage to property.

According to the information, officers were able to secure initial evidence during an initial inspection of the crime scene.

“The quick intervention of the caretaker and the cleaning staff late in the evening prevented even more serious damage to the building,” said a police spokesman.

In any case, the incident was no longer a mere “childish prank” but a criminal offense with far-reaching, costly consequences.

The police are therefore asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the office in Poing on (0 81 21) 9 91 70.

Police are targeting students and hoping for tips from chat groups

The call is aimed particularly at students who were able to observe the previously unknown perpetrator carrying out the crime or who found out about the crime before or after the crime - for example through social media - and can therefore provide information about the suspect.

Parents of Humboldt-Gymnasium students who have obtained information about the crime or a suspect from their children personally or through their chat activities are also asked to contact the number listed above.
