After the construction site is before the construction site - and in between the girls and boys at the school in Neuhaus get some Alpine time.

Because she needed space for lunchtime care, the school management came up with a creative solution and brought in the SC Miesbach Almcafé.

Neuhaus – This proposal caused wide eyes in the Schliersee town hall.

Because all primary school classes have three classes, this meant that there was an additional room for lessons, which meant that space for lunchtime care was lost.

At first there was talk of a container solution, but headmaster Stefan Troppmann put a different suggestion on the table: Instead of sober containers, it would be better to rent the Miesbach Ski Club's Almcafé.

The suggestion arose from a conversation between Troppmann and a teacher friend, both members of the SC.

Said and done.

After appropriate negotiations, the community concluded the contract with the athletes, the building yard moved in and, under the guidance of Alois Fuchs from the ski club, set up the hut on the spot where the old gym was until last summer.

The building yard has made the hut winter-proof

Otherwise, as is well known, the Almcafé is at the Miesbach folk festival.

Contrary to the name, it doesn't just serve freshly brewed and foamed delicacies.

And the hut, built in 1980 by the Kopferl carpentry workshop, will return to the Waitzinger Wiese on time when the folk festival opens there on June 28th.

In the meantime, students are coming to the café.

In order to make it winter-proof, the building yard insulated the structure, made it heatable and supplied it with electricity and WiFi.

The end result “is that it has a certain charm,” says Troppmann, and the temporary home is well received by the students.

However, nothing is known about any other loans from the Miesbacher Volksfest.

School needs more space - toilet facilities and more classrooms are coming

Of course, the topic also has a more serious background.

The school needs more space, and that is in short supply on the already intensively used site.

Actually, a toilet facility should have been built this year in the area of the former changing rooms and the open existing corridor through which you can get to the Almcafé should have been closed.

The government of Upper Bavaria has given the OK for this, but the town hall still has to obtain comparative offers from planners.

When asked, Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer said he hoped this would work this year.

If this happens, the school will face another year of construction work - albeit on a much smaller scale.

The outdoor facilities around the gym still need to be completed.

Troppmann takes it calmly.

“We are tried and tested on construction sites.

This is my second year here myself.

Who knows, maybe I'll be missing something." The headmaster also draws consolation from the prospect that at the end of construction sites there is always a profit for the school.

Concerns about the right to a full day from 2026: Is the school grounds large enough?

Schnitzenbaumer is now looking even further into the future.

In 2026 there will be a legal right to full-day care for primary school children.

This means the municipality needs more space and more staff because the daily care times are longer than now and the closure period is limited to four weeks per year, as the mayor says.

Care beyond the bound all-day school with lessons in the afternoon is the responsibility of the municipality.

“We have to look at what we can accommodate in the school,” says Schnitzenbaumer, who also sees the federal government as responsible for financing under the legislation.

As reported, the community is considering expanding the school building to include two full-day classes.

State of affairs according to the town hall: An architectural office has been commissioned to prepare the design plan.

Once this is available, it goes to the government of Upper Bavaria - keywords: school supervisory approval, funding, approval for the early start of the measure.

Schedule: open.
