In the small village of Derchigny (Seine-Maritime), Christian Hédoux is the third generation of farmers on the Wargemont farm.
But the first to use its fields to draw on a very large scale.
“It started as a challenge with my children.
The first was a rabbit, one of their comfort toys.
It was about six years ago,” recalls the farmer who this time shows his support for one of his neighbors, the athlete Kévin Campion, a walking specialist, in the running to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.
Based in the Dieppe region since 2012, the athlete trains on the roads of the town.
“I see it happening all the time.
We greet each other with a wave, but we don't know each other, even if their in-laws are friends.
I admire his will, his courage.
Walking is not an easy discipline.
And not very publicized", underlines Christian Hédoux who began in early January to carve on three hectares the Olympic rings surrounded by the numbers 2 and 4... like 2024. "I program the GPS of my tractor to create the drawing that I prepared on a sheet of paper.
This one took me three quarters of an hour to do.
You have to be careful because with the slightest mistake, everything is ruined.
It shows the precision and attention we are capable of in our profession.

If the drawings are not visible from the road, the farmer uses a drone to immortalize them.
“It was mostly for family and neighbors.
But it’s true that it was shared quite a bit on social networks.
» Until landing in Portugal where Kévin Campion is following an internship.
“It warms my heart to receive such support,” thanks the walker whose next few weeks will be decisive in reaching Paris.
“Sometimes in training, when it's hard, you wonder if it's worth it.
But knowing that there are people like Christian who are behind us is a boost.
