The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Wednesday the construction of a new Navy ship at Navantia in Ferrol (A Coruña), with the creation of 1,800 jobs and the investment of 439 million euros.
In an appearance at Navantia, Sánchez has advanced this order from the Ministry of Defense to build in Ferrol a new combat supply ship for the Navy based on the current
Cantabria
, so the contract is imminent.
The project has an investment of 439 million euros, will involve three million hours of work and will involve the creation of 1,800 direct and indirect jobs, as explained by the President of the Government.
It will begin “with maximum speed” and will involve the work of 300 companies, of which 175 will be Galician.

Sánchez has been received by the president of the public company, Ricardo Rodríguez;
the Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco;
the president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Valentín González Formoso;
and the spokesperson for the local PSOE, Ángel Mato, among others.
The Chief Executive has highlighted the Government's commitment to reindustrialization, as well as the "commitment" to Navantia and the Ferrol shipyard, words that occur in a context of elections to preside over the Xunta de Galicia on February 18.
This assignment, Sánchez said, represents a “message of congratulations for the city of Ferrol, for all of Galicia” because “one more step is being taken, a very important step” and he has shown himself “sure” that “it will not be the last”, “to continue advancing on the path of progress, the creation of quality employment and the reindustrialization” of this land.
The president also recalled the construction program of the five F-110 frigates for the Navy for an amount of 4.3 billion euros which represents, he said, “a complete effort that represents the commitment we have with Galicia, with Ferrol, and with the Spanish industry.”
