On the day the vehicles were stolen, January 2, 2024, two reports were received from the trackers that were installed in vehicles stolen from Givatayim.
The stolen soft toys, which were on the way, were stopped at a checkpoint set up by Modi'in police officers on Route 443, while one of the theft suspects tried to escape.
The police chased the suspect who abandoned the vehicle and began to flee on foot.
During the searches, they located the suspect hiding in a parking lot in Modi'in and arrested him.
In the meantime, YSAM fighters from the Tel Aviv district set up another checkpoint at the Shapirim interchange, during which they spotted the other suspect who had stolen a car and arrested him.

The two arrested suspects are minors, 14 and 15 years old, who live in Nablus and Mesra respectively.
As part of the investigation that was conducted at the Givatayim station, it turned out that the suspects broke into vehicles and fled the scene with them.
The detention of the suspects was extended from time to time.
With the conclusion of the investigation, two indictments were filed today (Wednesday) against the suspects for entering or staying in Israel illegally, car theft, driving without a driver's license and without insurance, reckless driving, and a request for detention until the end of the proceedings.
These are illegal residents who were released in the kidnapping deal.
Shortly after their release, they entered Israel, in order to steal vehicles and transfer them to the territories.
In their investigation they said that when they entered Israel, illegally, their intention was to throw stones at IDF soldiers.
