There is hope for the Alter Simpl and Atzinger restaurants in Munich: new landlords are in prospect for the restaurants in Maxvorstadt.

Munich – It is currently sadly empty in the traditional restaurants Atzinger and Alter Simpl in the university district.

No trace of social student life!

But as our newspaper learned, new life could soon come back to the restaurants.

In any case, one thing is clear: According to the brewery, their classic tavern style should be retained under a new operator.

As we reported, the previous operator filed for bankruptcy at the end of last year.

In gastronomic circles it is now said that a successor has already been chosen for the Atzinger student bar on Schellingstrasse.

The owner Spaten Löwenbräu (Anheuser Busch InBev Group) is also already in discussions with potential new tenants for the Old Simpl.

“We already have someone in mind at Atzinger.

Something will happen in the next few weeks,” confirms Dieter Krause, authorized representative at Löwenbräu.

There are already several applicants for the Alte Simpl, “but nothing concrete yet”.

Munich cult restaurants are to be revived: new landlords in prospect

In any case, fans of old Munich inns can breathe a sigh of relief: apparently no fancy shops or ultra-modern restaurants will be allowed into either restaurant in the future.

Apparently, our newspaper learned, applicants with an Asian orientation have already been rejected.

Anheuser Busch Inbev says: “With regard to both properties, the aim is to continue the traditional restaurants in the previous concept.”

The simplicity remains simple!

Both cult restaurants are an integral part of the Munich gastronomic scene: The Alte Simpl has been around for a good 120 years - initially as a cabaret bar under the name Simplicissimus, later under landlady Toni Netzle, many celebrities came and went here.

The Atzinger, which is located right next to the university, has been around for almost 100 years and has always primarily attracted students.

And hopefully will do it again soon.
