A popular attraction is returning to Nuremberg after almost 25 years.
The “Nuremberg Winter World” should even be sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Nuremberg – After more than two decades, winter magic is returning to the main market: from January 27th you can ice skate daily in Nuremberg city center again.
“Atmospherically decorated, the main market with a 350 square meter artificial ice rink in the center, various culinary stands and ice skate rental will be a popular meeting place for everyone for five weeks,” announced the city of Nuremberg euphorically.
“Nuremberg Winter World”: Artificial ice rink in downtown Nuremberg returns after almost 25 years
The people of Nuremberg had to wait a long time for their beloved attraction.
The artificial ice rink was last built almost 25 years ago.
Now it is celebrating its comeback as “Nuremberg Winter World” from January 27th to March 3rd.
The weekly market has to be canceled during this time.

The ice rink belongs to Post SV Nürnberg and was until recently located on Ebensee in the east of the city.
For the “Nuremberg Winter World” it is temporarily coming to the main market.
The club will also operate the ice rink there: In addition to free ice skating, Post SV offers ice skate rental, ice skating courses for beginners and walking aids for children.
The city of Nuremberg announces: Artificial ice rink does not require the use of water or energy
The organizers of the “Nuremberg Winter World” also thought about the topic of sustainability.
The city announced that the artificial ice rink is a “synthetic ice skating rink” that does not require the use of water, energy or lubricant.
Instead, the ice surface consists of “a plastic mixture that is as slippery as real ice.” The track is removed and prepared separately before each use.
