This year, for the first time, it is no longer Lyon but Toulouse which takes pride of place. at the top of the “Very Large Metropolis” category.

“By a thread...Lyon only reaches second place this year in the ranking of Very Large Metropolises.

In detail, Lyon received a total score of 0.508 compared to 0.521 for the capital of the Occitanie region.

Of course, rankings are like polls, elected officials only put forward what suits them, but we can clearly see in this one that our territory is losing attractiveness

Sébastien Michel, LR mayor of Écully.

Questioned about this ranking by

Le Parisien

, Bruno Bernard (EELV), the president of the metropolis, preferred to kick in, explaining

“not having the habit of commenting on rankings.”

“My goal is for the region to do well and for the quality of life of Lyon residents to improve.

And we can no longer base our attractiveness policy solely on the installation of large French and international head offices which do not necessarily fit into our local value chain.

On the contrary, we are banking on a transition economy oriented towards development compatible with social and environmental issues

A driving force “of the French economy”

Insufficient according to Sébastien Michel:

“For almost four years, the EELV/LFI majority has explained that it favors quality of life over attractiveness.

We realize that Lyon is falling in both areas, which completely nullifies their argument.”

However, everything is not to be thrown away for Lyon, which ranks second in economic vitality, business reception and professional real estate and in connectivity, human capital and transition.

Arthur Lloyd also takes a positive view of

“the latest announcements from the Metropolis of Lyon on the subject of housing, aimed at renovating thermal sieves”
