It was a macabre discovery made by a passer-by, during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, in Serris.
An inanimate young man - his face bloodied - was lying on the sidewalk, Cour de la Garonne.
On their arrival, the firefighters, the Samu doctor - who tried to resuscitate him - and the police officers from the Chessy urban police station could only note his death.
At first, investigators were unable to identify him.
Thanks to his fingerprints, investigators were finally able to put a name to a face.
And for good reason, the young man - a 22-year-old resident of the area - was registered in the Automated Fingerprint File (FAED), for having committed a few crimes.
No one has been arrested yet
As of Thursday morning, a doctor from Ghef (Grand Hôpital de l'Est Ile-de-France) - Jossigny site - carried out an external examination of the body.
He noted bruises on the head.
Reason why the Meaux public prosecutor's office ordered an autopsy of the corpse at the Paris Forensic Institute, which should be carried out this Friday, in order to determine the exact causes of death.
Reason also why the Meaux prosecutor - suspecting a criminal case - entrusted the investigation to the SIPJ (Interdepartmental Judicial Police Service).
The investigators of the organized and specialized crime section (
