Things are going stormy in Germany these days.
But the storm soon passes and the temperatures rise.
Is winter already over?
Munich – Storm “Jitka” determined the weather in Germany on Wednesday (January 24th).
The result was storms - the nationwide storm leader was the Brocken in the Harz Mountains with 143 km/h - and sometimes heavy rain.
As a result, ferry connections on the North and Baltic Seas were canceled.
There was now a risk of a storm surge for the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony.
Train traffic was also massively hindered: fallen trees caused disruptions that were also reflected in road traffic.

A regional train with around 50 passengers on board derailed near Bad Driburg in East Westphalia (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Wednesday morning.
The train had previously crashed into a tree lying on the tracks.
According to a spokesman for Nordwestbahn, no one was injured.

The train hit a fallen tree and derailed, a police spokesman said.

There was also an accident on subway line 1 in Hamburg due to a fallen tree.
In Schleswig-Holstein, Autobahn 21 from Bad Oldesloe was completely closed in the southbound direction after a tree fell onto the road.
At least there is good news for Thursday (January 25th).

But probably only temporarily, there should be a storm comeback on Friday (January 26th).
Then, according to the weather expert, a “small but fine storm front will move into northern and western Germany”.
Gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected, and in heavy rain showers these can even reach wind speeds of 100 km/h.
But the temperatures remain mild.
The weekend brings a “little touch of winter” – then it becomes “spring-like”
The storm will move away this weekend.
But the temperatures drop slightly.
On Saturday and Sunday (January 27th/28th), “night frost will be an issue again,” said Jung: “There will be a little touch of winter.” According to the weather forecast from the German Weather Service (DWD), the thermometer will fall on Sunday night to values of 0 to -7 degrees, on Monday night it can even get as cold as -10 degrees in Bavaria.

However, weather expert Jung does not expect winter to make a comeback: “An onset of winter is considered very unlikely.” This is not to be expected, at least in the first ten days of February.
According to the meteorologist, the coming week will start off relatively warm.
The last days of January bring 7 to 12 degrees on Monday (January 29) and Tuesday (January 30).
Wednesday (January 31st) “is almost spring-like” with sunshine and temperatures of up to 15 degrees.
And it should stay in spring weather for a long time.
