The starting signal for the 23rd Tegernsee Valley Montgolfiade will be given on Sunday (January 28th): the weather prospects for the start are excellent.

So the balloons can probably take off right at the beginning of the event.

Tegernsee Valley

– This Sunday, January 28th, the big meeting of hot air balloonists begins again at Tegernsee.

There is a good chance that the pilots will be able to take off with their colorful balloons right at the start of the event.

Bright sunshine is forecast for Sunday and Monday (January 29th).

Rain and heat have taken a toll on the launch sites

“The weather prospects for the start look very good,” confirms Peter Rie, event manager at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).

He still has to make one small restriction: the recent mild temperatures and the rain have taken a toll on the starting positions, explains Rie.

The meadows are soggy, so a decision has to be made at short notice as to where the balloons can ultimately take off from.

In principle, the area at Birkenmoos and the Oswaldwiese in Rottach-Egern as well as the lake promenade and the Sonnenbichl in Bad Wiessee are available for this.

Visitors can always find out whether and when the balloon teams take off on the Internet at www.tegernsee.com/montgolfiade.

On February 2nd there will be an evening balloon glow at Sonnenbichl

The 23rd edition of the balloon meeting lasts a whole week and runs until Sunday, February 4th.

A total of 25 teams will be guests, some with hot air balloons and others with smaller model balloons.

On the weekends there is food on the lake promenade in Bad Wiessee, and on Friday, February 2nd, an evening balloon glow attracts visitors to the Sonnenbichl.

Tegernseer Zeitung and TTT are calling for balloon hunting

On the occasion of the Montgolfiade, the TTT and our newspaper are once again organizing a competition for amateur photographers.

Who provides the most attractive balloon motif?

Simply send your recording with a little information about how the picture was taken and your data (name, address, telephone number) by email to redaktion@tegernseer-zeitung.de (subject: “Balloon hunting”).

Attractive prizes await.
